GEOFFREY BODINE TO COMPETE IN BRICKYARD 400 -- NASCAR Veteran to drive "El Paso – Do Texas Different" Dodge in Brickyard 400 -Effort to benefit Fallen Soldiers' Families of Fort Bliss-
July 22, 2004 -- NASCAR veteran driver Geoffrey Bodine will take the wheel of the Gary Trout Autosports Dodge for the 2004 Brickyard 400. Sponsored by the City of El Paso and the El Paso Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Dodge Intrepid will feature the "El Paso – Do Texas Different" logo on the hood.
Fans in the El Paso area are also able to get in on the action by signing their name to the car as it makes its way through numerous "pit stops" leading up to race day. Proceeds from the fan signatures, as well as the sale of t-shirts and decals, will benefit "Fallen Soldiers' Families of Fort Bliss", a charitable organization designed to further the education of those children who have lost a parent as a result of recent U.S. military conflicts.
"We are very excited to work with the City of El Paso at the Brickyard 400," said Gary Trout, owner of Madison, IN-based Gary Trout Autosports. "El Paso brings a high level of enthusiasm to the event and we look forward to a good day at the track with our driver, Geoffrey Bodine."
"Geoffrey has a special place in his heart for the men and women who serve our country in the armed forces," continued Trout. "So it is with great pride that we cooperate with the city, our sponsors and the great fans of El Paso to use this event to benefit the Fallen Soldiers' Families of Fort Bliss."
